Feedback from recent BOLT ‘grads’…
I took the Fall, 2007 BOLT class and very highly recommend this class to anyone interested in Community Presbyterian Church (or any church, for that matter). It lives up to its promise to give you a closer understanding of our Lord, CPC, its visions, and where we, as individuals, fit into the pattern. The class provides a safe environment for learning about this journey we are all on. Everyone was so friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. Bravo and Kudos to everyone involved!

What a blessing it was to be in the BOLT class! So well thought out. Clearly a great deal of prayer, thought, experience and tweaking went into BOLT. What an affirmation it was to have so many of CPC's elders involved! Pacing was tight, fast, yet allowed for discussion and reflection. I really like it here. Our Lord has blessed the ministry of BOLT, and the presence of the Holy Spirit is so clearly evident that many are in prayer for our class.
Spring 2007 Graduate
Being new to Ventura, we visited several churches over a period of about 9 months. By the time we knew the Lord was planting us at CPC, we were fairly desperate to be grafted into a church family once again. We are so grateful that BOLT was able to welcome and include our older children, ages 12 and 15. Even though they were hesitant at first, we believed it would be a good experience for them. From the first night, we were blessed by the warmth of the team, who welcomed us even if we were frazzled after a long day. Sharing a truly wonderful meal each week as we met new people was also something we came to look forward to. The organization of the notebook, the teachings, and small group discussions were key to grasping a lot of information in a fun, easy way. We learned the answers to all of our questions about the church and its history. As a family, doing the short homework together brought us back into the habit of discussing spiritual things together. Some of our deeper talks were so revealing that they ended up producing very good fruit! For all of us, BOLT has been the place we came to view CPC as home.

There are two reasons I am thankful for my BOLT experience. First, with no prior knowledge of the Presbyterian Church, I learned about its foundations and doctrine. Second, I felt the pulse of the church through BOLT—it was amazing to hear about our church’s commitment to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and our commitment to love & serve Him above all else. It was so refreshing and challenging to me at the same time.
I really enjoyed my experience in BOLT. I think this class along with taking Alpha is essential to decide if you want to be a member at CPC and find out how your gifts can help you serve in the church. Working in groups is what helped me most to know that CPC was the best fit. Everyone was warm and encouraging.
We really enjoyed learning about the beliefs and organization of the Presbyterian church. The classes were thorough and organized and we were well-prepared to make our decision to join CPC. We were also enriched by the fellowship (and great food!). God is good!
